My name is Tanish Prabhu and I am studying Bachelor of Communications majoring in journalism at Deakin University. 

 I am particularly interested in public affairs, sport, and community driven stories, and I aim to create impactful journalism that informs and engages modern audiences. I have experience developing story pitches on current affairs, particularly focusing on sports and producing both written, audio and video content, including a podcast where I analyse the key moments in sports. Through my studies, I have built skills in research, interviewing, and identifying compelling news angles, as well as applying strategic thinking through social media. My experiences are in content creation, broadcasting, and writing/reporting. I work as a freelance social media sports content creator, producing video, photo, and written content from live sporting events. I am also a radio host on SYN’s Sportsdesk at RMIT, where I cover current sporting topics and interview athletes.  

For most of 2025, I interned at Melbourne Winter Baseball league for 6 months as a social media content creator. I drove to several matches on weekends to produce video and audio content, match reports and interviews. I got the experience of what it was like to be a proper journalist through this internship and honed my skills in both writing and speaking.

As an ambitious journalist, I want to give the audience the knowledge and facts that they aren't fully aware of. It is important that they share their opinions when asking the important questions, but it is also important that they know the full truth before giving their opinions. Therefore in my field of interest, I go into full analysis on key moments, find out things from an athletes and experts perspectives. Whether its on my podcast or creating an interview in person, I always find a way to give the audience the answers they are searching for.

My goal is to be a skilful sports journalist, starting in the cooperate world before moving on and travelling around the world as a writer at ESPN and on field reporter.
